Credit ratings are not currently available for public cannabis companies leaving companies, lenders and investors with a gap of information. The Viridian Cannabis Credit Tracker fills this gap. The model uses 11 market and financial statement variables to discern 4 key credit factors: Liquidity, Leverage, Profitability, and Size, to provide credit/liquidity analysis for over 370 public Cannabis/Hemp companies.
The psychedelic sector has not benefitted from the enthusiasm surrounding cannabis stocks, and we see somewhat weaker credit stats for the 25-member group. The median free cash flow adjusted current ratio is not -0.56x vs. -0.45x last week. Both are weak figures, and we are probably splitting hairs to note that liquidity is slightly weaker. Similarly, the median total liabilities to market cap is now .22x vs. .19x last week. These are not significant moves, but they are not heading in the right direction either. The positive credit news for the sector lies in the acceleration of M&A activity, with two significant deals in the last week.
