Our sector trackers include ratios applicable to value companies with no analyst coverage and the more typical EV/ Revenues and EV/ EBITDA measures. For each valuation measure, we present the values for the lowest 25% of companies, the median, and the highest 25%. This gives investors a better understanding of the spread of values than a simple average, often presented but frequently seriously flawed by outliers. This week’s resurging hopes for the SAFE Act propelled the Cultivation & Retail sector stocks upward by over 10%, which shows in the valuations metrics. The sector’s median ev/2023 EBITDA rose from 4.43x to 4.83x. Interestingly, the bottom 25% of the group fell from 1.66x to 1.63x. Investors looking to gain from SAFE mainly look at the larger and safer companies to place their bets.
