Credit ratings are not currently available for public cannabis companies leaving companies, lenders and investors with a gap of information. The Viridian Cannabis Credit Tracker fills this gap. The model uses 11 market and financial statement variables to discern 4 key credit factors: Liquidity, Leverage, Profitability, and Size, to provide credit/liquidity analysis for over 370 public Cannabis/Hemp companies.
We continued to be concerned about the highest quartile liabilities to market cap of the Cultivators. The third quartile figure increased to 8.69x this week from 7.97x last week, despite overall gains in the stock indices. The gains experienced by the broader market care camouflaging continued weakening of the most levered companies. Around 24 companies in the sector will likely need to restructure their debt or pursue dilutive equity financing in the next year.
