Credit ratings are not currently available for public cannabis companies leaving companies, lenders and investors with a gap of information. The Viridian Cannabis Credit Tracker fills this gap. The model uses 11 market and financial statement variables to discern 4 key credit factors: Liquidity, Leverage, Profitability, and Size, to provide credit/liquidity analysis for over 370 public Cannabis/Hemp companies.
Psychedelic sector liquidity has improved, but only the top quartile of the 24-company group is comfortably funded for the year. The median free cash flow adjusted current ratio has improved from negative .33x to negative .04x over the fourth quarter. Still, this figure indicates that more than one-half of the companies need additional funding to be able to fund themselves through the next twelve months. The median current ratio of 2.61x is the highest of any cannabis-related sector due to the large amount of cash on many companies’ balance sheets. All of the companies in the sector have significant negative free cash flow, mandating continuing capital raises.
